Nice video. I’ve made a simple half wave dipole loop antenna from a single piece of wire. Bend the loop so that it is about 11 inches to tune it for 500 MHz reception. It’s fine for local broadcasts.
BTW – The transformer is a 300 to 75 ohm balancing transformer. Not a “uhf to vhf” transformer. It’s normal purpose is to matches the impedance of the antenna to that of the coax cable.

This antenna can also be made with utility wire which you can find at your local hardware store, Home Depot, Menards, etc. It’s about $4 for 50 feet and is almost exactly like metal coat hangers.
I have a better idea: im gonna put that hanger on the stove, and let it sit for like a half hour, take it off and stick it in your ass real slow, like TSSSSSS

wow i have been fighting with my signal for a year. i didn’t measure any thing i used duckt tape to insalate the hangers from the wood. i was hoping to clear up a few channels. they are and i have five new chanels i’ve never seen before. thanks

I have a Vizio 36″ Flatscreen and the only place to hook up the antenna is where the cable wire goes…Any Help would be appreciated……..

I built it just like the video, for some reason I am getting no or weak signal. What could be the problem? No channels at all.

@debanjangoswami I also used 12 gauge copper wire for mine and for me it also helped to have all the connections soldered together.

CBS, NBC, CBC, TQ, FOX, ABC, PBS, World, KOFY, KQED, KCSM, CW, ION, more… and quite a lot of other channels in spanish and asian languages.
Surprisingly three free to air Indian channels…very satisfied with the HD quality
One modification to this which is an educative guess that I used Aluminum Craft Wire 12 Gauge COPPER wire istead of coat hanger

@LIGHTRONIX I’ve read up on the story and it is pretty loopy but I didn’t realize that he was taking acid when he thought it up. He just doesn’t come off as the type of guy who does acid.
